The Romanian Film Initiative, BAM and the Jacob Burns Film Center presented from November 26 – December 5, 2018 the 13th edition of Making Waves: New Romanian Cinema with a focus on a brand new wave of female directors in Romanian cinema, a retrospective of director Radu Jude, and the traditional best of year showcase. A conversation dedicated to the intersection between film and literature and an industry event also accompanied the festival screenings and gala events. Read more about the 13th edition

Guests of this year’s festival included directors Monica Lăzurean-Gorgan, Ivana Mladenović, Paul Negoescu, Mona Nicoară, Adina Pintilie, Alexandru Solomon, and director of photography Ana Drăghici, along with special guest Ada Solomon, producer of no less than ten films in this edition’s lineup.

Elvira Lupșa joined Film ETC. since its launch in 2012. She conceived the first successful crowdfunding campaign for a major Romanian project - the independent 2012 Making Waves Festival.
